BETTING BIG ON SMALL BUSINESSES

ABOUT BETTING BIG ON SMALL BUSINESSES

The Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce (FMBCC) is working to grow Fresno’s small business community by investing directly in people and their ideas. At the heart of this effort are Accelerator Cohorts - an 8-week program designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs turn their plans into thriving businesses. Participants receive hands-on training, one-on-one guidance, and a network of peers committed to success.

Graduates don’t just leave with a plan, they gain ongoing technical support and access to seed grants that help them move their businesses forward. By pairing education with resources, the Accelerator ensures that local entrepreneurs, particularly entrepreneurs of color, have the tools they need to succeed. FMBCC also supports existing contractors by helping them expand their capacity to take on larger projects. Through technical assistance, bonding support, and targeted business development services, local firms are positioned to grow and compete on a bigger stage.

Together, these programs are building a stronger, more inclusive local economy. By betting big on small business, FMBCC is creating new pathways for wealth-building, opportunity, and long-term prosperity in Fresno’s communities of color.

RECENT IMPACT
  • Two Accelerator Cohorts hosted in Fresno, providing entrepreneurs with training, support, and seed funding to grow their businesses.

  • Two BTAC contractor cohorts completed, graduating 12 individuals who are now better equipped to compete for larger contracts.

  • Three additional Central Valley counties equipped with tools and resources to launch their own Accelerator programs, extending the reach of this model across the region.
