SUBMIT YOUR FRESNO STORY

Fresno Stories is a project uplifting real stories of collaboration, innovation, and community power that move Fresno toward an economy that works for everyone.

Our coalition believes that people are the economy, not abstract systems or numbers. Every story we tell helps humanize the economy by showing how individuals and communities are creating opportunity, driving collaboration, bringing bold ideas to life, building ownership, and growing a Fresno where everyone thrives.

Read below for instructions about how to  submit your story.

Storytelling Guidelines

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for stories that humanize the economy and show how the work we do, our ideas, and how we use our time and apply our values are a part of creating an economy that truly works for everyone.

Your story might show neighbors organizing to bring investment to their community, researchers and advocates using data to drive policy change, or small business owners creating good local jobs. It might highlight programs that help people build wealth, gain new skills, or take ownership of local assets.

At the heart of every story should be people - residents, leaders, and partners shaping the systems that affect their lives. We want to lift up examples of collaboration, innovation, and community power that reveal how the economy can be changed when people work together with purpose and vision.

How to tell your story

Your story should be about 400 to 600 words. Begin with a compelling title that captures the heart of what you’re sharing. Then, tell us who was involved, what happened, where and when it took place, and most importantly, why it matters.

Bring your story to life by focusing on the human experience, including personal reflections, emotions, or quotes that give it depth. Share the impact of the work: what changed for people or communities, what was learned, and how this story connects to the larger vision of a thriving Fresno.

If others were part of the effort, acknowledge them by name or organization. Include any photos or visuals that help tell the story, ensuring you have permission to share them. End your story with a simple call to action — how others can engage, support, or learn more.
