Facing Fresno, a Fresno DRIVE Initiative, provides a free, engaging, and immersive training experience that is a must for all Fresnans. It educates attendees on the history of institutionalized racism — with a decades-long timeline of events — that led to disenfranchisement in Fresno. Attendees are encouraged to look inward and be vulnerable about their own experiences with racism and will leave the event with a clear purpose of pursuing systemic equity in their communities.
Participants have personally evolved from the training and felt compelled to help create a more equitable region. “Participating in the Facing Fresno training was a powerful and eye-opening experience. As a community learning and engagement initiative, it offered a deep and thoughtful exploration of the impact of racism in Fresno — both past and present,” said an event trainee. “It helped me better understand the roots of many of the challenges our community faces today while also inspiring a greater sense of responsibility to be part of the ongoing work for racial and economic justice. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside others committed to equity and transformation in Fresno.”
Join Facing Fresno for an upcoming, two-day training to learn about the history of racism in Fresno, how it impacts those who reside in the region today, and how to amplify your voice to promote racial equity and economic inclusion locally.
