From time to time, a community issue arises that is so vital to the overall wellness of our county that DRIVE feels compelled to engage in the work. Measure C is the county-wide transportation sales tax that fuels the ongoing development of our transportation infrastructure in our urban and rural areas. As the tax is calendared to end in 2027, there’s a sense of urgency for the community to pass it in the 2026 election. It’s imperative that this continues, as we know that transportation impacts families, health, and the economy, all elements woven into our DRIVE Initiative.

So, how is DRIVE participating in Measure C? We are leveraging our vast network of CBOs and Resident Leaders in hosting community gatherings so our community is well informed on how the measure works, what has happened, what is happening, and how their voice can speak into what can happen in the future.

It’s so important that the community feels they have a role in the future of the measure, and the organizations we work closely with year-round can assist in gathering our families. Our DRIVE Executive Committee, a collection of community leaders, will also speak into the progress of the measure in the months ahead, and if it all goes well, we’ll have a new measure, stamped with community voice, approved in November of 2026. More to come on this topic.
