The Social Tapestry: Weaving Stronger Communities

Fresno DRIVE hosted community members on Tuesday, May 6, to honor the importance of social connections in building strong communities. Attendees gathered at the New Manchester Center, where they viewed clips from the documentary Join or Die.  The film, based on Robert Putnam’s book Bowling Alone, explores the importance of joining local clubs or associations to combat our country’s declining civic engagement.  After viewing the film clips, participants engaged in discussions with other attendees about ways to build greater connections that can ultimately benefit our community and revive our democracy.
